Easy Fruit Smoothie with Options

Smoothies are yummy! They taste like a treat, but if you use healthy ingredients, they're a nutritious too! Below is my Basic Smoothie, and then add-in options to create the perfect smoothie for your taste.

Basic Smoothie (serves about 3 people, approx 12 oz cups)

Toss all of the following into your blender:

2-3 ripe bananas
2 1/2 cups of either milk, soymilk, coconut milk (or apple juice - for a super sweet smoothie)
1-2 Tblspns of honey or agave nectar
1 16 oz. bag of frozen fruit of your choice (I think berries are best - any kind or a mix)

Blend and enjoy.

ADD INs: Add in any of these or all of them to enhance your smoothie

1/2 block of silken tofu (good for making a breakfast smoothie - adds protein)
2 TBLSP wheat germ (adds fiber, folic acid, vit. e)
2 TBLSP ground flaxseed or flaxseed meal (adds heart healthy Omega-3's)
1/2 an avocado (healthy mono-unsaturated fats, keeps you full for a long time)
handful of goji berries (adds vegetarian source of protein, fiber, immune boosting compounds)
pinch of cinnamon, for flavor

Those are just my favorite add-ins. You can buy and add in spirulina, or other "green" powders, but try to keep things natural - please don't use protein powders or artificial sweetners. You can always add more fruit or a little more honey if you want it sweeter, or add a whole block of tofu for more protein.
