Counseling vs. Coaching

How do you know if you should choose counseling or mindful ascent leadership coaching? The cost is quite different. Here’s a breakdown of the differences between these two services.

Counseling

  • Are you seeking time to talk; to feel seen heard, and understood? 

  • Are you looking to work through specific challenges or life changes? 

  • Are you also interested in looking at your life from a holistic perspective, mind/body/spirit, and learn a handful of self-awareness and growth practices? 

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, Joni’s general counseling practice might feel helpful for you. It’s traditional talk therapy (you talking around 70% of each session) with some guidance from Joni, offering tools, techniques, practices, suggestions, homework (mindfulness, emotional intelligence, cognitive reframing, positive psychology)(about 30% of the session). 

Mindful Ascent Leadership Professional Coaching

  • Are you interested in setting specific goals, and having an active partner who encourages you and helps you build the capacity to meet those goals?

  • Are you wanting more of a private personal development program that boosts your emotional intelligence, self-knowledge, and skillfulness in life?

  • Are you seeking one-on-one attention and customization through assessment tools and discussion, learning about yourself and stepping onto a path of self-love and growth toward the best version of you, personally and professionally?

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, my mindful ascent leadership coaching might be helpful for you. It’s much less talk therapy, as you’ll only provide brief check-ins after the initial consultation (generally 25% of the session) and more guidance and training from Joni, basically it’s a personal development bootcamp program, if you will, where we will explore where you are and where you want to be. Joni will offer mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and communication training, and even yoga and an overall health and wellness assessment and recommendations (about 70% of each session). This is also available as a small group program.
